Run an A/B test on a form

Show two versions of a form and see which one more people send. Change texts without code, or build version B yourself.

On the A/B tests tab, create a test and choose how version B is made. Version A is always your form as it is.

Change texts here, no code

Pick the form, then fill in only what's different in version B: a new label for any field, new text for the send button, or tick Hide for fields you might not need. Press Start test and it goes live on your website within about 5 minutes. Formleak makes the changes in the visitor's browser, for the share of visits that sees version B.

  • Hiding only works for optional fields. Required fields stay visible, because your form would still ask for them: make a field optional in your form builder first.
  • Texts change a moment after the page loads. On most sites that's too fast to notice.
  • Formleak only changes text: it never adds links, code or styling to your page.

Build version B yourself

For bigger changes, like a different layout or other fields, put both versions on the page with two small markers:

<form data-formleak-test="signup-test" data-formleak-variant="A">…</form>
<form data-formleak-test="signup-test" data-formleak-variant="B">…</form>

Formleak shows one per visitor and hides the other.

Reading the result

Formleak compares how many people send each version, field by field. It only names a winner when both versions have enough starts and the difference is at least 95% certain. Formleak uses no cookies, so each visit gets its own version: someone who comes back later may see the other one.
