Quick answer
Hotjar retired its Forms and Funnels tools on 14 December 2020, and Hotjar is now part of Contentsquare, which offers form analysis only on its custom-priced Pro and Enterprise plans. Alternatives with field-level form reports include Zuko, Mouseflow, Insiteful, Lucky Orange and Formleak.
What happened to Hotjar Forms?
Hotjar announced in November 2020 that it would retire Forms & Funnels for all users on 14 December 2020, and that the data in those tools would no longer be available (Hotjar). Hotjar later brought back a new Funnels tool, which follows people across pages, but form analysis didn't return.
Today Hotjar is part of Contentsquare (Contentsquare). Contentsquare has a Form Analysis capability, but only on its Pro and Enterprise plans, which are priced on request (Contentsquare pricing).
What you lose without form analytics
Heatmaps and recordings show you individual visits. To find a form problem with them, you watch recording after recording and hope a pattern shows up. A form report answers the question directly: of everyone who started this form, how many reached each field, and where did they stop?
The alternatives

How to choose
- You want recordings and heatmaps as well: pick a tool that does both, like Mouseflow or Lucky Orange, and check that its form module is on the plan you'd buy.
- Your company already uses Contentsquare: ask whether Form Analysis is in your contract.
- You only need to know which field loses people: a dedicated form tool is simpler and usually cheaper.
- Privacy matters to you: check whether the tool sets cookies and whether it records what people type. Some do, some don't.
Formleak is the dedicated option: one line of code, a funnel per field with the worst one in red, and a suggested fix with new wording. It sets no cookies and never reads what people type. See the full Formleak vs Hotjar comparison.

- What is the cheapest Hotjar forms alternative?
- Among the tools we compared, Formleak starts at €19 a month per website and Insiteful at about $29 a month. Microsoft Clarity is free but has no field-by-field form report.
